Debora E. May and Aleksandr S. Seleznev, co-founders of May Barnhard Investments (MBI) and partners at Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell, MBI's parent company, were named to Bethesda Magazine’s 2022 list of top financial advisors. Professionals named to this list were selected through a peer review process by other financial advisors in the region who were asked who they would entrust with their clients’ work if they were unavailable to handle it themselves.
May and Seleznev are, respectively, chief investment officer and senior advisor & portfolio strategist at MBI. The firm delivers a unique approach to comprehensive service by combining tax and financial planning with investment advisory expertise to help each client meet his/her unique financial goals.
“We know that earning trust is essential before clients will rely on us to look after their long-term financial welfare,” said May. “We take this role seriously especially when we inevitably are called upon to help each client navigate a unique set of life transitions. We are honored to be recognized by Bethesda Magazine and those who acknowledged us during the survey process.”
During the pandemic, May and Seleznev responded to the financial concerns of clients by launching a quarterly series of market investment webinars, through which they shared their expertise to help clients navigate a period of financial uncertainty. The sessions, which drew an immediate audience, continue to this day. May and Seleznev also support ongoing professional education for clients in financial planning and divorce finance-related issues either directly or in collaboration with industry associations and other partners.
“We appreciate the support of others who deliver wealth management and financial planning expertise through the region,” added Seleznev. “Our goal is for clients to feel they’ve reached a better place, financially, for having worked with Debbie, myself and our team.”
